Frederick is bordered by I-70 to the south, the Monocacy River to the east, Bowers Road and Kemp Lane to the west. The city’s most northern point is at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Clover Hill is encompassed by Frederick near the northwestern section of the city. Linganore-Bartonsville, Mout Pleasant and Walkersville are to the east, Ballenger Creek is to the south, Braddock Heights is to the west, and Lewistown is to the north. Neighborhoods like Buckeystown, Ijamsville, Middletown and Discover-Spring Garden are also within a short drive.

Frederick has a community orchestra that performs five concerts per year, consisting of classical masterpieces. Weinberg Center for the Arts is a fantastic performing arts theater located on West Patrick Street. This performing arts venue hosts dance, music, and comedy shows plus a prominent speaker series.
Baker Park is one of the city’s most cherished green spaces. Situated near downtown Frederick, this 44-acre park features a band shell for live music and events, tennis courts, softball and baseball fields, Culler Lake, a public swimming pool and numerous playgrounds. The park also features concerts and children’s theater in the summer and other numerous outdoor events throughout the year. Rose Hill Manor Park is another historic park that features a 1790s manor house, a 43-acre history park and a museum with interactive exhibits.
National Museum of Civil War Medicine is a fascinating museum located across the street from the Frederick MARC station. A wonderful tourist attraction, this spot documents the medicinal treatment of wounded soldiers through exhibits and life-size dioramas.
Traveling Around Frederick
The city is served by MARC commuter rail service, which operates several trains daily on the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad’s Old Main Line. A series of buses are operated by TransIT services of Frederick, while there are several Greyhound Lines available in the city as well. Frederick Municipal Airport is a local airport home to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, due to its proximity to DC and ability to handle small twin engine jets. The city is a notable bike-friendly community and has even won awards on this achievement. Major roads and streets intersecting within Frederick include I-70, I-270, Route 15, 40, 340, and 355.
